Kitty Whispers Haven, Inc.
To create a safe haven for all our older, abandoned, or injured angels.
In the late summer of 2022, Ally faced a life-altering diagnosis: an autoimmune disease that made even the simplest daily tasks a challenge. Beside her, Marcos stood strong, despite his own struggles with PTSD. Together, they found themselves drawn to a local cat rescue — and in those sheltered cats, they discovered an unexpected source of comfort, love, and healing.
It quickly became clear that while adopters flocked to kittens, the adult and senior cats were often overlooked. Merlin was one of them. A presumed seven-year-old surrendered by a family moving away, he revealed the quiet heartache of his life. Weeks in the adoption center left him sad, stressed, and depressed. His fur was thinning, his skin irritated, and his spirit dimmed — a gentle soul overshadowed by kittens who stole all attention.
Ally and Marcos knew he needed more than just a home; he needed understanding, patience, and love. When they brought Merlin into their care, small changes — a heating pad, steps to help him navigate, and tender attention — transformed his days. At the vet, they learned he was not seven, but at least fourteen years old. And yet, despite uncertainty about how long he might have, Merlin’s life began to blossom.
Currently, Merlin is 18, a little bigger from being spoiled, his heart open to bonding with other kitties — especially the ones born with us — with a permanent sleeping spot on Ally’s pillow above her head, and his own personal back scratcher/petter that he calls for or taps when he wants attention. Merlin also loves bringing toys he thinks she’d enjoy playing with.
Merlin’s journey is a testament to the quiet, powerful resilience of adult and senior cats — and the healing that happens when compassion meets need. At Kitty Whispers Haven, we strive to create that same sanctuary for every overlooked kitty: a place where they can feel safe, loved, and cherished, no matter their age or past.
After finding our passion in helping cats of all ages, we realized we wanted to really focus on the adult and senior community. Our organization’s goal is focused on building a haven to provide a home with love, safety, and support for the cat community. Kitty Whispers also wants to open their hearts to the people that can no longer care for their kitty angels.
Kitty angels that have lost their homes for whatever reason and are fully domesticated require a haven to live a full and nourishing life.
Senior cats require extra nurturing to fully live a comfortable loving life.
